Kimi Howell, Informal Writing #2

10 Goals for Writing:
1.      Go to the writing center frequently. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when writing an assignment; every writer sometime needs help.
2.      Use semi-colons when needed. This will help the flow but also it will improve the run-on sentence that I may write.
3.      Extend my vocabulary, not only in my writing but also in books. If a word is used to commonly, I will look at a dictionary and find any word. When I am reading and I don’t know what a word means I will look it up in a dictionary.
4.      Don’t procrastinate and write an assignment the night before it is due. This is a problem I need to overcome in all subjects. To improve on my procrastination, I will start the assignment the day it is given by brainstorming.
5.      Always stay true to myself. I will not turn in something that I am not comfortable with or I do not love; I will turn in something that I am proud of.
6.      Think out-of-the-box in every assignment. I will be creative in every assignment given and I will look at an assignment in more than one perspective.
7.      Brainstorm before writing. In the past I wouldn’t brainstorm making my writing harder. After I brainstorm I will then make an outline of the assignment, outlining all the topics I will cover in the assignment.
8.      If I have writer’s block I will take a break and do something for a while. Sometimes all I need is a break to get the juices flowing.
9.      After I have finish writing it or sent it to a friend, parent or pass teacher to edit it. Sometimes I might not catch all of the mistakes, and having someone else edit my work with benefit me in the long run.
10.   Improve on grammar. I will practice my grammar in every assignment making sure it is correct. If I need help with my grammar I will go to the writing center.
